Father of murdered actress Sharon Tate. Husband of the late Doris Gwendolyn Tate. Also father of Debra Tate, and the late Patricia Gay Tate.

Paul Tate had been a Lieutenant Colonel in Army Intelligence. Lt. Colonel Tate launched his own investigation into his daughter, Sharon Tate's murder because he felt the police were too slow in finding her killers. Soon after her death, he retired from service.
