Charles Edward Kemp (18 Nov. 1901 - 09 Nov. 1986) was one of the outstanding composers of fairy-tale chess.

Born in Manchester one hundred years ago, he began composing at an early age and published his first tasks in 1917. He soon focussed on fairy chess, worked a lot with T. R. Dawson and his Fairy Chess Review and, after Dawson's death, took care of his chess legacy, even publishing this magazine himself in the last years of publication of the FCR. In 1969, together with Karl Fabel, he published the bilingual book Chess Unlimited/Schach ohne Grenzen, which again centred on Dawson.

On Germain Wikipedia is written:

Charles Edward Kemp (* 18 November 1901 in Manchester; † 9 November 1986 ibid.) was a British chess composer.

Kemp, who published his first own exercises around 1917, often worked with Thomas Rayner Dawson and managed his estate after his death. For example, Kemp continued to publish the Fairy Chess Review for a time. In total, Kemp composed over 600 chess problems.
