Khalil Ullah Khan (Bengali: খলিল উল্লাহ খান, February 2, 1934 – December 7, 2014) was a Bangladeshi film actor. Khalil Ullah began his acting career as a theatre activist while he made his debut on the silver screen with ‘Sonar Kajol’, directed by Zahir Raihan and Kalim Sharafi. He then went on to star in about 800 films. His first national award came for Alamgir Kumkum's 'Gunda' where he acted opposite to Sumita Devi and Sultana Zaman while in 2012 he won 'Lifetime Achievement Award'.

Biography

Khalil Ullah Khan, widely known as Khalil, was born on 2 February 1934. He is a powerful actor both on silver and small screens. Beginning his acting career as a theatre activist, he made his debut in Zahir Raihan's Sonar Kajol. His acted films include 'Preet Na Jane Reet', 'Bhawal Sannashi', 'Jongli Phool', 'Bini Sutar Mala', 'Wada', 'Bou Kotha Kow', 'Sonar Cheye Dami', 'Megher Pore Megh', 'Modhumoti' and others. Besides acting in more than 800 films, Khalil earned appreciation for his 'Mia' role on BTV play 'Sangsaptak'. He was also the president of Bangladesh Film Artistes' Association. In recognition of his contribution to the country's film industry, veteran actor Khalil Ullah Khan was honoured with the National Film Award for his role in 'Gunda'.

Death

Khalil died of heart ailments on 7 December 2014 around 10 am at Squar hospital in Dhaka, Bangladesh. [4][5][6] He had been suffering from lung, liver and kidney ailments for some years and was hospitalised several times after falling critically ill.

Dhaka, Dec 7: Bangladeshi film actor Khalil Ullah Khan, whose career spanned over five decades, passed away Sunday. He died at Square Hospitals Limited here around 10 a.m. He was 80, bdnews24 reported. Khalil had been suffering from lung, liver and kidney ailments for some years. He had been hospitalised several times after falling critically ill. A condolence message on his death was posted on the Facebook page of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s press wing.
