Vladimir Akimowitsj Bron  (Russia, 14.09.1909 - 01.10.1985)

Important chess composer of endgame studies

Grandmaster of the FIDE in chess composition. Title awarded in 1976.

 

Bron was a doctor of engineering science. He worked in chemistry in silicate technology and the development of fire-resistant materials. He published 150 scientific papers in his field. After the Second World War he lived in Sverdlovsk.  

   

About his chess composition:

  Wladimir Akimowitch Bron was one of the greatest study composer. At the age of eleven, he learned the chess game. 1920 he began the systematically deal with chess literature in the chess club of the city, headed by Alexey Alexandrovich Aljekhin, the brother of Alexander Aljekhin. From 1928 to 1946 he met a number of Soviet masters on the chessboard. However, he felt more attracted to chess composition, especially to the chess studies.
