Samuel Isenegger (born November 2, 1899 in Bern; † November 15, 1964) was a Swiss study composer in chess.

Chess composition
Isenegger began composing around 1925, led chess columns in daily newspapers and was editor of the endgame study section of the Swiss Chess Newspaper for 15 years. He composed a few two- and three-move pieces, but mainly over 350 endgame studies, most of which were easy to understand in structure. He published in the chess sections of numerous Swiss daily newspapers as well as in international chess magazines. He counted Alexei Alexeyevich Troitsky, Henri Rinck, Leonid Ivanovich Kubbel and the brothers Vasily and Mikhail Platov among his teachers.

  David vs. Goliath theme 

The Swiss study composer Samuel Isenegger was specialized in the David vs. Goliath theme of pawns fighting pieces. 

In 1959 he became an international referee for chess compositions.

Private
Isenegger was a laboratory assistant in a chemical plant in Basel.
