Loránd Nyeviczkey (Hungary, 1.8.1890-1.9.1954)

Chess composer of studies and problems who lived in Budapest, where he practiced the profession of lawyer.

He participated in numerous competitions, such as the one held in Helsinki in 1952 (Olympic Tournament) obtaining the silver medal.

Born in Budapest in 1890, †1954. September 10. He was a judge at the court.

He only produced finals, most of which were published in Arthur Havasi's Magyar Sakkvilág column.

He was one of the outstanding personalities of the Hungarian final team.

He reached the peak of his career in the years after the Second World War.

In the last years of his life he achieved a number of international successes. He won the national championship twice. He published around 200 works. He liked combinatorial foreplay.

Theoretical value, funny,

His combination endgames also fascinate today's modern authors and encourage them to develop their ideas further.

Endgame study which recieved 2nd prize and was corrected by Mario Guido García in 2012:

Dr. Lóránd Nyeviczkey's work Kh6/Kd8, of theoretical value, deservedly received the attention of the world press. In the study we see the well-known Holzhausen combination. The crossing point has been reached, all that remains is to do the opposite of the usual for the two strokes.

“The study can, without any frills, highlight moments that, among many other moments, remain hidden in practical play or only appear as a coincidence.” (Dr. Jenő Bán, 1954)
