Edvard Johannes Brost Forssell (25 September 1946 – 4 January 2018) was a Swedish actor.

Parents - Sven Forssell, Gudrun Brost

He grew up in the Skåne province in southern Sweden. His mother, actress Gudrun Brost, worked at the Malmö City Theater. He followed in his mother’s footsteps and became a stage actor, working both in Malmö and Stockholm, and later starred in several movies and on TV. His biggest claim to fame in Sweden was the role of Joker, the bartender in the TV soap operaRederiet, a long running drama show about a shipping company which conducts passenger traffic on the Baltic Sea. Brost also starred as a villain in two Jönssonligan films. In 1991 he started doing stand-up comedy. Although mostly known as a comedic actor, Brost was also in some more serious dramatic films.

Johannes Brost is sometimes credited as John Frost.

In terms of Johannes Brost's personal life he was a long-time friend of Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones. In 1965, The Rolling Stones had a gig in Malmö and they didn't have a hotel to stay at. Instead they slept in the home of Radio Syd's owner, Britt Wagner. Wagner's daughter was friends with Brost and convinced The Stones to go to the West End Club which Brost was running at the time. Jagger and Brost immediately became friends and they met every time the Stones went on tour and they came to Sweden. He competed in the celebrity dance show Let's Dance 2017 which is broadcast on TV4.

Brost died from complications of cancer on 4 January 2018.
