In Aug. 1941 he volunt. to the Gorohovetsk. camps; was serg. of sapper batt-n in 201 Lat. Rifle div. near Moscow and Star. Russa; wounded; after recovery - in the 15 Aircraft army, then in the Polish National army in Warsaw; awarded. After the war helped members of "Beitar" from Lat. to emigrate to Israel. In 1946 arrested by the NKVD ; spent over 10 years in GULAG. 1956 returned to Riga, worked at the factory "Ausma". Since 1971 in Israel. Member of Israeli Assoc. of Latvian Jews.
