Conrad Bayer (also Konrad Bayer; * 10 November 1828 in Olomouc (Olomouc); † 21 September 1897 in Vienna) was an old Austrian chess composer and theorist of the Old German School. His most famous chess problem is the Immortal Chess Problem.

Typical of Bayer's problems were four- and five-move problems with quiet hidden moves, passed sacrifices and a main variation ending in a pattern mate that was difficult to find. By 1870 he had won several international composition tournaments, including the first one organised by The Era in 1856.

On Chess problem Database Server pdb.(dieschwalbe.de) 486 chess problems can be found.
