— The attacks and arson in Makhachkala and Derbent were synchronized. The first reports of shootings began to come in around 6 p.m. At 17:51 the police received the first report of an injury to an employee in Derbent. Previously, after this, the shooters arrived at the building of the Orthodox Church on Lenin Street, killed a clergyman, and then moved to the synagogue. There they set fire to the building and continued to exchange fire with the police. The entire Derbent police force was alerted. Previously, the shooters were traveling in a white Volkswagen Polo.

— Around the same time, a report was received about a fire in the Synagogue in Makhachkala. On the doors of the building, unknown persons left signs to suras and verses from the Koran. Another one is his nephew. Magomed Omarov was taken to the Ministry of Internal Affairs department. He was also expelled from United Russia.

— According to Dagestan publics, one of the killed militants was MMA fighter Gadzhimurad Kagirov.
