Shuhrat Abbosov (sometimes spelled Shukhrat Abbasov in English) (Uzbek: Shuhrat Abbosov, Шуҳрат Аббосов; Russian: Шухрат Абба́сов) (born January 16, 1931 and dead April 25, 2018) is an Uzbek actor, film director, screenwriter, and film producer. Abbosov is best known for his film Mahallada duv-duv gap (1960) which is considered to be one of the best Uzbek films of all time. He is also known for writing the screenplay for the highly-popular 1977 adventure film Shum bola.
Abbosov is celebrated as one of the founders of the Uzbek film making industry. He has received many honorary titles and awards, including the titles People's Artist of the Uzbek SSR and People's Artist of the USSR.
Life and work
Shuhrat Solihovich Abbosov was born on January 16, 1931, in Kokand, then the Uzbek SSR.[8] He graduated from the Tashkent Medical Vocational School in 1949. In 1954, Abbosov graduated from the Ostrovsky Tashkent Theater Arts Institute. Later he took graduate courses in film directing at Mosfilm. Abbosov started working at Uzbekfilm in 1959. As a director, he has also staged many plays, including Abdulla Qahhor's Ogʻriq tishlar (Hurting Teeth) and Komil Yashin's Nurxon.
