Latvian Memorial Park in the Catskills
The Latvian Memorial Park is a Latvian Cemetery in the Catskills - a final resting place and memorial. It was established by the Latvian Disabled Veterans Association in the 1960os. The cemetery has urn spaces in niches (3 sections), in-ground urn spaces (1 section) and burial plots (limited selection of burial plots).
Organized burial ceremonies take place twice a year: at the end of May (Memorial Day weekend) and in October (Columbus Day weekend). The spring ceremony took place Sunday, May 26, 2013, 12 noon. The fall ceremony is scheduled for October13, 2013 @ 12 noon. (A candlelight service takes place Saturday evening (October 12) at dusk.)The next ceremony will be Sunday, May 25, 2014 (Memorial Day weekend). Ceremonies are led by Dean Olgerts Sniedze. Everyone is welcome!

October 12, at dusk - candlelight service (candles available for purchase or bring your own) October 13, 10-11 am - arrival and registration for urn blessing ceremony October 13, 12 PM - urn blessing ceremony begins October 13, approx. 1 PM - service led by Dean Olģerts Sniedze October 13, after the service - lunch at Rota ($16)
The urn blessing ceremony will take place rain or shine; as a precaution, please bring rain gear! In the event of a severe downpour, we will wait until it passes and then resume the ceremony.
