An American business investment adviser and former Peace Corps member was among those killed in a terror attack on a Kenyan hotel compound, the company he founded said Wednesday. At least 14 killed as Kenya hotel siege is declared over Jason Spindler, founder and managing director of I-DEV International, died in the attack on the DusitD2 compound, an upmarket cluster of shops and hotel facilities in the capital of Nairobi, his company said.

Jason was Co-Founder of I-DEV, and has 15+ years of experience advising large and small corporations on growth, management and financial strategy. He helped high-growth global tech/telcom companies raise over $50BN in capital as an investment banker at Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup, led buyouts and acquisitions of manufacturing and operating companies at AlixPartners’ $1BN private equity fund, managed and led the growth of a $7M locally-owned agribusiness in Northern Peru during his service in the U.S. Peace Corps, and advised over 100 emerging markets SMEs on growth and capital strategy. He was survivor of 9/11 attack
According to his LinkedIn profile, he was an analyst for Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup in New York City during the 9/11 terror attack. The company was based in 7 World Trade Center, which collapsed as a result of an attack on the neighboring Twin Towers.
