Needingworth Cemetery is owned and managed by Holywell-cum- Needingworth Parish Council as the public cemetery for the residents of Holywell and Needingworth (though non-residents of the Parish are permitted, but at a higher fee).
The Cemetery is situated on Mill Way, between Needingworth and Holywell. There is disabled access, though parking is limited. For a large number of cars, we advise they park at Millfields car park (a short walk along the road).
The Cemetery will be open to the public during the hours of daylight.
The Cemetery has designated areas for burial graves with memorials (with a specific area for Catholic burials) and cremation tablets .
The exclusive right of burial in a grave space or a cremation plot may be purchased at the time of interment, or a space may be reserved in advance. No burial shall take place, no cremated remains shall be scattered and no memorial placed in the Cemetery without the permission of the Parish Council.
The Clerk for the Parish Council may be contacted at the office:
Summary of RegulationsThe burial authority has adopted the following regulations in order to maintain the feeling of serenity and dignity appropriate to this lawn cemetery. They are to ensure that the long term care of the cemetery can be carried out both appropriately and effectively. The regulations also allow for the long term care of all grave spaces. This means that when those who initially care for the graves are no longer able to do so, there is the assurance that there will be a continuation of sympathetic attention.
All graves are to have flat grassed surfaces, which is the essence of a lawn cemetery.
In order to preserve the lawn aspect of the cemetery, there should be no planting on the grave spaces please.
Memorial headstones with a plinth may be used, but without kerbing or fencing on the grave area.
It is requested that any vases or plants be placed on the plinth itself.
You are respectfully asked to observe the regulations.
A copy of the full regulations may be obtained from the Parish Council office at Needingworth Village Hall.
