Florence Arthaud was a French sailor born in Boulogne-Billancourt, France
She is the daughter of Jacques Arthaud, director of the Arthaud publishing house.
At 17, she was in a serious car accident, which resulted in her coma and paralysis.
She has a daughter with Loïc Lingois, a French professional sailor.
During Route du Rhum 1986, she tried to help Loïc Caradec.
In 1990, she won Route du Rhum on her boat Pierre 1er.
In 1997, she won the Transpacific with Bruno Peyron.
On March 9, 2015, she died in the Villa Castelli helicopter crash in Argentina
