Allan Simonsen (5 July 1978 – 22 June 2013) was a Danish racing driver.
Simonsen was born in Odense. He died after an accident on the third lap of the 2013 24 Hours of Le Mans. His death was the first such racing incident during a 24 Hours of Le Mans race since Jo Gartner was killed in 1986, while French driver Sébastien Enjolrasdied more recently in a pre-qualifying session accident 1997.
Death
Whilst driving the number 95 Aston Martin Vantage GTE, Simonsen spun off the track at Tertre Rouge into barriers, about 10 minutes into the 90th anniversary, 2013 Le Mans endurance race.
Following the accident he was transported, still reportedly conscious, to the on-site Circuit Medical Centre but later succumbed to his injuries.
